For
years I had longed to do some fishing
in Mosquito Lagoon but I just did
not have willpower to spend the
money. Wow, what a mistake. I finally
told myself I was getting no younger
so I decided to try it but then
my problem was how to find a good
guide. Something resembling a miracle
led me to a fellow at an Orange
City drug store who told me of
Capt Jeff
Dorobiala.
My first outing
was on 28Sep2008 and I was so impressed
that I have been fishing with him
three or four times every month since and can tell
you that when you go with Capt Jeff
you go catching, we have had
but one skunked day in 15 months. My wife has been
on a couple of trips which she truly
enjoyed. He also is a man that has
the patience to work with a novice,
no reflection to my bride, who
is a great fisher lady, but I
have taken several first timers. He actually
seems to get excited when I'm telling
him I am going to bring a person
that has never been fishing before.
You know a man loves his job when
he is out doing it without a customer,
on his day's off, that is Capt Jeff.
Another thing that impresses me
about Capt Jeff is his ability to
spot a school of fish. He can point
straight to the school and many
times I still cannot see them.
Most lagoon guides are
exceptional but I
have even seen him lead another
guide to schooling fish, which that
guide could not locate. Another
good thing about Capt Jeff and
his guide buddies are in
communications while on the
lagoon so assist the ones with
clients which is great when fish
are playing hard to locate, It does
not take you long to see that he
has great respect and love for the
Lagoon so from the time you catch
your first fish he is teaching you
that same respect. Thank you Capt
Jeff, for the great fishing and

After that first trip on the lagoon I decided to attempt to keep this record which is not the greatest but it is a treasure for me and those who have been out with me. I have included in this site not only my trips on Mosquito Lagoon but those of others and also my trips to other locations in Florida and other states with Family and friends. |
